Thank you for visiting my online lighting design portfolio. I am Sean Hennessy, and I am a lighting designer at Lighting Management, an award-winning retail lighting design firm located in Harriman, NY. My years of theatrical lighting experience and strong background in the arts have provided me with a valuable foundation to draw from when designing lighting for stores, restaurants, and other interior spaces.

I graduated from The Ohio State University in 2004 with a Bachelor of the Arts degree in theatre and have been working in the New York metropolitan area ever since. Please feel free to look at my portfolio of lighting design experience

Photo from OSU's 2003 production of Sueno At OSU, my focus was directed towards Lighting Design, with specialization in the use of technology to advance artistry in theatrical productions. After graduating in 2004, I became Resident Lighting Designer at 12 Miles West Theatre in Bloomfield, NJ, where I have lit more than a dozen productions, including Kiss of the Spiderwoman, the world premiere of John Wooten’s Happy Hour, and N. Richard Nash’sThe Rainmaker, ranked among the top ten theatre productions in New Jersey for 2005—2006.

The above image captures Oberon and Titania battling in a production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream I recently lit at the Gerald W. Lynch Theatre.

I have also designed lights for Fats Waller's Ain't Misbehavin', as well as the critically acclaimed finale to Arthur Miller's playwrighting career: The Ride Down Mount Morgan, and Eric Weinberger's ever-popular Tea for Three (starring Elaine Bromka). My experience has also included concert lighting design for Lisa Loeb, Leon Redbone and Richie Havens as well as lighting for other musical performances.

Jersey Voices One Act Play Festival - Lighting Design Photo Summer 2005, I designed a festival of 6 one-act plays for the Chatham Player's Jersey Voices festival. Each play required a different lighting look, and playwrights from all over new jersey participated in what proved to be a very interesting lighting design experience. I have already been asked to design for the upcoming 2006 Festival as well.

A Midsummer Night's Dream Lighting Design Photo from the Virginia Arts Festival - Spring 2005 Spring 2005, I toured with a production of A Midsummer Night's Dream to Norfolk, Virginia and Buffalo, New York. This production was a featured part of the Virginia Arts Festival, and recieved rave reviews at both the New York and Virginia venues.

Proof Lighting Design Photo - Chatham Players 2004 Production Autumn 2004, I returned after a long absence to the Chatham Playhouse, in Chatham, NJ to design their production of Proof, directed by Robert Pridham. Proof is a compelling drama regarding the authorship of an ingenius mathematical proof. The small cast of characters struggle with the proof (and their complex interrelationships) in a moving and rewarding drama.

During Summer 2004, I did freelance work in Columbus, Ohio on several theatrical projects, including a console programming mentorship at OSU's Department of Theatre for their production of Candide, and console programming for a new performance piece entitled Identity, conceived by Iraqi puppeteer, Louay Assaf. I also completed a master class on moving light programming for Flying Pig's Whole Hog 2 Lighting console, under the expert tutelage of Benny Kirkham.
